The BackOFF™ XP Brake Light Module automatically flashes your brake light(s) to capture the attention of following drivers and to make your motorcycle more visible. When installed, the motorcycle's brake light becomes significantly more noticeable because your brake light(s) will flash with your choice of 2 attention getting patterns. This module is designed to work with standard incandescent brake lights, LED brake lights, or a combination of both (up to 10 amps).

Flash patterns to choose from
Mode 1: Causes your brake light(s) to automatically emit a visual alerting signal of 5 short flashes, followed by 1 steady on light for 4 seconds. This sequence automatically repeats itself as long as the brakes are applied.
Mode 2: Causes your brake light(s) to emit 5 rapid flashes, then remain steady on light as long as you are stopped/braking.

Note: Both Mode 1 and 2 can be used if you have multiple brake lights.

These flash patterns are not random, but have been selected because of their ability to gain and retain following driver's attention. Most states drivers handbooks recommend that you flash your brakes when slowing or stopping. The BackOFF™ XP automatically facilitates compliance and enhances safety. Install the BackOFF™ XP and see how much more effective your brake light can be!

Installation
To install, wire the BackOFF™ XP Brake Light Module in-line with your existing brake light wire. Locate your brake light wire and cut the wire into 2 (use a test light or multi-meter to find proper wire). Choose the mode you would like from the 2 available and connect the mode wire (red/white or white/red) to the wire leading to the rear of your bike, and connect the red wire from the module to the cut brake light wire leading toward the front of the bike. Tap the black wire from the module to a ground wire and read instructions below for the optional yellow wire. Finally peel the paper lining off of the double sided adhesive pad and mount the module to a clean, flat surface. (Be sure to cap off the unused mode wire)

Solder connections or use crimp connectors (not included)

Black wire: Ground
Red wire: Connect to brake light wire - leading forward (front of bike)

CHOOSE 1 MODE BELOW (CAP OFF UNUSED WIRE) Connect to brake light wire - leading back to the brake light (rear of bike)
Mode 1: White wire / Red stripe
Mode 2: Red wire / White stripe

(OPTIONAL)
Yellow wire: Motorcycle hazard flasher / Automotive flasher
Motorcycle: Connect to on/off fused switch and your battery for continuous hazard flashers when switch is on
Automobile: Tap wire to vehicles reverse light wire, causing center brake light to flash when in reverse

    Very easy simple install. Not that I'm selling another manufacturer's product for them, but my bike only has a single light in the back. So after the install of the BackOFF XP I also installed a Putco Plasma LED 1157R bulb, replacing the stock 1157 incandescent. The bulb is amazingly bright. The BackOFF XP and that bulb make a great winning team. I will certainly be noticed when I hit the brakes now!

    Don't make it complicated......study the drawing and then execute. One thing to help people out is to understand the electrical wiring on the bike. That is the hardest part of getting this up and functioning, Hint: mount under the seat.

    A very effective signal device that is easy to install. I have had three bikes and each one of them received a "Back Off". Recommend all Motorcycle owners to invest in this very good safety product.

    This isn't my first BackOFF module - my wife likes 'em on all of her bikes.

    Here's the story behind this particular unit.

    On a popular motorcycle parts retailer's website, this unit's fitment information said it was compatible with her trike - a 2016 H-D Freewheeler. When I received the unit from SignalDynamics and reviewed the wiring instructions I discovered that it wasn't actually recommended for the trike's lighting setup. That's because of the integrated turn signals.

    A quick call to Signal Dynamics confirmed. BUT... they pointed out that if the trike was equipped with a center brake light - similar to some TourPack setups - I might want to use it on that circuit.

    A few minutes with a soldering iron and some shrink-wrap tubing was all it took to install.

    Down here in Florida rear-enders are the second most frequent cause of bikers getting hurt - or worse. This product, while no substitute for situational awareness, can help.

    I recently purchased the brake light module for my Yamaha Venture. After opening the package the instructions made the installation completely effortless. I finished and exited onto the roadway. My eighbor was behind me. I saw him the next day and all he could saw was wow. He said that whatever I did made my motorcycle 100% more visible by having the stop light flashing as I stopped.
    A bit of history. Thisss is my 11th motorcycle. Two ended in the salvage yard. My current motorcycle has 179,000 miles on it and has been on its side twice. Once from a guy who ran a stop stign and the second because the guy rear ended me. I believe now this along with the headlight flasher will make me alot more visible.

    I got my garage to install this for me using option 2 (5 pulses and then steady on). Would be nice if the device flashed faster, perhaps it will if I install an LED it may flash faster? Would be nice also if you can simply just wire it one way, then have an actual switch on the device to switch between modes. Now if I want to switch it to option 1, I'd have to rewire it, which would be an inconvenience. But in the end, it does what it was designed to do well. I just think the next generation should be enhanced as I indicated. Also it's very small and light which is on the plus side.

    Unit took a little longer than usual but it is now installed and works perfectly. Am happy knowing that I am that much safer on the road from inattentive motorists.
